Re: skyworks web site
Wow, these companies are losing altitude one after the other. I take it one of two ways. A: They want to sell their existing assets so they can invest in the A10 allgo project, or B: (and the most likely) They just plain f****d up. Although maybe with the news of that personal issue, they urgently needed the money for that + the toy business was getting way over their heads.

Wait....what?
Maybe AllGo or BBI will buy the molds. I wonder what the odds of Admiral grabbing some of the molds are? I know, wishful thinking.

The 1:18 ME-163 looks like another aircraft that won't make it into my collection.........

0.0% That made me laugh. I love that you actually pinpointed the odds to a fraction of a percentage. That shows how slow this hobby is now. The sad thing is, you are probably correct.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but I think his web site mentions selling everything as a large lot, molds and all. I'm not sure if Skyworks was large enough to have a stock pile of kits laying around waiting to be sold but I could be wrong.

Re: skyworks web site
This was actually pretty slick on their part
They mention paypal refunds...well you can only claim for a certain amount of time. I've been awaiting so long on this false promise of a Hurricane I can't claim a refund.
Guess I will never see my Hurricane

Re: skyworks web site
if you call paypal and there are circumstances warranting it, you can get a refund from paypal for any time period. A custom built model would seem to me to be one of the circumstances that would qualify as it can't be built and shipped within 45 days. Be persistant.

Re: skyworks web site
This is sad. They really had some nice planes and or conversion kits. I just couldn't afford them or have the skills to modify.
I was very impressed with the converted P-40B/C's into the P-40E. They had all kinds of really cool ones, including particularly the Aleutians Tiger, and numerous others with very colorful nose art. I liked the P-40E with the parrot on it too.
The P-51B/C was a winner also. I mean who wouldn't want a 1:18 "Shangri La" ?!!
Manufacturers could learn something here with the numerous and colorful choices of both these aircraft Skyworks had for sale, if they ever get something going with new molds. That's a big if, but a good example of 1:18 models not yet made en-masse.
Not to mention a frickin" Hurricane!
I imagine Allgo will get it's A-10 back?

Gentlemen,
This is A-typical of a opportunity grabbing exploitation artist. I have seen and read all of the postings on this site over the years abouit this lovely individual and what he has promised and what actually was delivered and or sent to the customer. Riding on the coat tails of major manufacturers, filling in the so called "gaps" with option parts, i.e pilots, home made decals, airframe parts, re-paints and so on only confirms that this business would be very short lived. To make it even more of a cluster, her offered some other 1/18 scale subjects that major manufacturers simply would not produce such as the comet, other versions of the spitfire, warhawk, F-16, A-10 ect and resin kits that simply were priced in the stratosphere. To some high end collectors that were not concerned about the cost factor and were were willing to take a huge risk with a relative unknown, these were versions of planes to complete some collections. There were some items of merit such as the metal landing gear and nozzles for the F-14/F-16 along with a few other bits but nothing much else. In any case this is a text book example of promises made and promises never kept. I only hope that for some of the customers that did business with this charming individual will get re-embursed and or compensated in one form or another before skyworks totally disappears like cockroches in a housing project.

I can think of a thousand things to say about this subject.
All of them unkind maybe even nasty.
But I wont.

I wounder if we'll ever find out the true story behind this ????? the thing that pisses me off is that we'll probably never get an A-10 now !!!!i'm probably the biggest fan of the warthog and now ........No words can say how i feel !!!!!!!!
Re: skyworks web site
A bit harsh I think, especially if you did not personally deal with him and lose any money or property (ahem, Pickel). He is no better or worse than the so-called professional 1/18th scale companies that are/were around.f56tbird wrote:Gentlemen,

Making these custom 1/18th offerings for the public is no way to make a real living, but more of a glorified hobby/passion. Luckily I got a FW-190A nose and a KI-61 Tony from Skyworks that both still need to be made before he shut down. You could see that these molds had some hours put into them by looking at the fit and detail involved...these were not just basic shape-ok detail kind of models. The way I could justify the cost of these was by selling some of my stash of Wal-Mart finds that were purchased for $39.84 and sold for >$150
