21st Century Toys 1:32 Information Q&A (Area-21 Pres)
For RAD2112
The Fw-190D-9's do indeed have thin struts and the gear do not sit at a proper angle. Unfortunately this is not as new of a mold / tool as you see in the newer models. At the time those were being built, 21st was using a different factory to have those tools developed and the market for 32x planes was pretty soft. This combination of events and challenges produced a product that was on par or better at the time they first released.
So the older models will start to show their age. Looking at where we are today, planes like the new FW-190A are now the standard. But 21st still will look for improvments as the line continues.
As for your question in regards to the FW-190D-9 being retooled... I would say it is not very likely. I think that newer models will be focued on. The P-51D was decided to be retooled because it was the oldest tool by far, and because it is such a recognized plane that is loved by the masses. It really needed to be re-done.
There is another 32x plane that will be announced pretty soon!

How plausible would it be to reissue just the wings for the past D-9 releases, provided there were enough interested parties?
Historically, the D-9 used the same wings as the A-8/F-8. Could that be true for the toys with some minor tweaking?
(I'm still looking for the FW-190F-8 planes in my area, so I don't know if the assemblies are similar.)
If all else fails, can you recommend a 3rd party who makes FW-190 landing gear?
Thank you.
PS: Another 32x plane? P-38L Lightning or a F6F Hellcat?
Looking forward to another issue!

Thanks, I've been wondering this too.tko211 wrote:I will have to look into those Marines and the other stuff for you. I have a little harder time keeping up with the 32x figs to know what is and what is not out yet. I will try to get some idea of the status for you.

Just out of curiosity, how many different 32x plane molds does 21st C plan to create in 2008?
For instance, within the past month both FW-190A/F & (retooled) P-51Ds have been announced, plus another to be announced soon ( FW-190 A-8 )
I would guess that 21st C would also have at least 5 different paint schemes per plane.
Speaking of paint schemes, is there any chance we might see a P-47 with "Chief Ski-U-Mah II"?
Anyway, besides a P-38J/L
, there are a few other planes I would like to see in the future:
-F6F Hellcat
-Spitfire
-Tempest Mk V.
-Ilyushin Il-2
-Yak 3
The new FW-190 A-8 looks great!
I might have to collect the whole series!

I can't get any solid intel on those !@#% marines! LOL... I am hoping that the New York Toy Fair might shed some light on the matter. -sorry I am empty handed on this issue still.
New plane announcement in 1:32... Yes that is still coming. I know what it is and I have seen the paint master and pictures, but I have been told that they plan to reveal it as Toy Fair next on the 18th of Feb. AREA-21 will be providing the images of the show just like the past 4 years. I am told that the 32x planes are becoming quite popular so I think we might be able to expect as many as 6-8 new planes per year at this rate. There is no doubt that 32x fans are in hog heaven right now!

Y'all best be careful throwing around words like that--some of us here might take that as a hint (then again, we would prefer to see a certain hog in 1/18)!

This from 11/06. We're, by my count, fifteen airframes into this and still no Spitfire. We've got a freaking stuka, but no spit yet? I just don't get ittko211 wrote:a spitfire in 1:32 HAS to be on the plans of things to do. I would be shocked if one wasn't already in the works somewhere over there.

The Spitfire has FINALLY been made for 32x! It also sounds like there will be 2-3 variants as the line gets flushed out over the year.
BTW- Those Marders and Hetzers are sure pretty! Fan and Vendor reaction has been strong for these models and I thought I would share with you that 21st is feeling pretty good about those. I think it might just promote a couple other ideas that 21c wanted to do but felt might have been too risky! Don't know what those would be... but that is the rumor around the 21C camp.
