1/18 Scale Runway/Tarmac Diorama Board
I posted about this in the Customs & Mods forum as well, but figured it would get better visibility here... Anyways, inspired by the example of A10Loader with the excellent display board he made for his custom-weathered Harrier, I made my own runway/tarmac setup using foam board painted with matte gray primer over a darker gray base. The concrete block lines were inscribed before painting using a screwdriver and highlighted using a sharpie. Fake moss padding simulates the grass. I'm pretty happy with the end result and it really livens up the aircraft displays. Enjoy

Looks fantastic! Have you considered adding some oil stains, or other whatnot to weather it up a bit?

Very nicely done indeed.

This is a great idea! You did a super job on this base for display of Aircraft. I am going to utilize your instructions to make one myself. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Re: 1/18 Scale Runway/Tarmac Diorama Board
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it and hopefully it will inspire you to do something even better .
My board definitely needs some simulated oil and tire streaks (as most concrete runways do) but I’ve not managed to attempt that weathering effect just yet...

Very good work.
For tire streaks, may I suggest that it could be simple to use fat chalk sticks or broad soft charcoal pencils.

Awesome display board, Tman. It really adds to the visual effect of models displayed on it. Are you planning to build more variations of it?granch wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 4:20 pmVery good work.
