If Merit has the time to edit their photo pages all of yesterday, last night and today with the huge concerns customers are having with the paintjob, is it that hard to find a completed photograph of the production Tomcat from the JSI factory?

Why haven't they done this???? Seems something very easy to do to set folks' minds at ease. Unless there really IS an issue. I really hope I'm wrong and not getting a suprise when I open the box.

I'd like to know exactly what I'm getting before this thing shows up at my doorstep. THAT'S THE CONCERN.
i photo shop for u if u want,,,
Then you'd better not forget including the pilots.

I can tell you that there will be 250 special edition F-14's available. But only dealers will be able to buy them.

A special edition would appeal to some depending on the scheme and final price. I would hope that perhaps JSI would be inclined to utilize the mold for several future releases. Production may be hard to speculate with the current economy. I look forward to the arrival of the Jolly Roger and will just take a wait and see attitude about any others. Scheme and Price will be a factor.

The Special Edition Tomcat will be available to all vendors at the first annual Christmas "A Weekend of Heroes" show in California on December 5th. Any outstanding pieces will then be made available to dealers on the 6th who have purchased the regular F-14.

Just what exactly the 'extras' will be is unknown but we are told by Merit more information will be coming soon. :)

Cheers!

Hi CW4USARMY! We have several folks interested in us getting the SP version for them and since we do have the regular version coming we have access. It all depends on what happens with the 250 pieces allocated to the show vendors. Our belief is that Merit will not sell all at the show and we hope to meet everyone's requests. :) Would you like us to add your name?

We aren't sure if this is the venue for this as we always adhere to the retailer rules on this forum. Although, this is an unusual set of circumstances and there are no guarantees to retailers at this point.

You may contact us directly at sales@foxholetoys.com or by phone at 503.679.0919.

Cheers,
Matt

What is the Special Editionall about? Is it the same paint scheme? Does it include pilots? Flight deck personnel? Or does it only come with the lighting as an extra?

Greetings

The sound of the specal edition F-14 reminds me of the New Bright light and sound F-14's that company made for awhile in the 1990's. They were pretty cool, I remember having two of them that I pretty much beat the crap out of through play. They were neat though, the wings worked, it lit up, all the good stuff the kids want. I still see them on random searches on ebay.

I'll pass on the special edition. It's neat and all, but I really do not need a model that lights up like a Christmas tree. Neat idea, but just not something I will spend the extra money on.

i think the special edition just has lights and maybe sounds....i haven't heard that the wings swing. That would be pretty neat. You'd think if New Bright could do it for $50 that JSI could do it for $280.

Greetings

I think Andy meant they don't swing with a motor, just manually. The New Bright model has battery operated swing wings.

It's too bad that they are putting the name of the show on the cockpit, it'd even be better to have the Maverick and Goose Top Gun names over that.

yes i meant the wings should be motorized, like the New Bright one.

I agree putting the name of the show on the plane is goofy in the extreme.

I had that one, the only bad thing about it was that it wasn't wireless. It would have been cool if it was wireless and could have the gear retractable or swappable. Had to be 1/32 scale or larger and the mold itself was good except for the big electronics compartments. I remember that Tomcat being fairly heavy too.

I agree with aferg, if the JSI Tomcat had motorized swing wings that would be excellent.
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

I am still wondering is there a real special edition F-14 jumping out or just a shitty pipe dream there.

I had already put my preorder of regular F-14 on MTS and CAT seperately ,I don't remember they had mentioned anything of about the special edition . :?:

News of the special edition surfaced last week so it's not something that MTS and Badcat posted when the initial preorders went up

I have to ask, why would you even think of paying that much for that plane? If you want a totally custom Cat I’m sure you can buy a regular plane and hire one of the extremely talented gentlemen on this board to give you the one off your looking for. I bet someone on here that has talent with this sort of thing could help. Even if I were a movie star I wouldn’t drop that much on this plane. That’s more like a “museum quality piece” price tag. Buy your Mustang and pass on the custom toy plane.
My 2 cents
