Well at this time I really do not know.
I have not built it yet.
But as stated before I make my projects with the builder in mind and make them as simple as possible.

Very nice built with the sophisticated windshield! Glad to see that you choosed the most modern, 2 men cockpit and not the 3 to 4 one.

Re: 1/18th Scale Mi-24 Hind Will Be a Reality ! !! Pics !!
Thanks guys.
A minor update. I have made connections with a metal caster who can fab the finished landing gear out of metal.
This is great news because I will need something stout to hold this beasty off of the ground.
I also intend to make some key parts on the main rotor head out of metal in order to cut down on the chances of prop sag.
I will make the main prop blades out of resin with a brass rod laid into it. But I also plan to make the blades so they can rotate so that when they do sag with time you can simply rotate the blades upside down and let gravity draw them back to normal.

Pickel, I'm not en engineer at all, but may I suggest you something. I won't use a brass rod in the main prop blade. Brass can bend and sag, is heavy and expensive. Wouldn't be better with a steel wire / rod? Steel is flexible and stronger with a smaller diameter when compared to brass. I can't tell if there is a risk of rust in contact with resin, but it could be possible to limit it with a varnish layer. What do you think about this idea?

I am not sure what I will use at this time . Brass or piano wire are options .
I am not really how thick the blade will be.
But I do need to use something .

Re: 1/18th Scale Mi-24 Hind Will Be a Reality ! !! Pics !!
Hey guys . it has been a semi long time since an update .
I just received some parts from shapeways and they are just fantastic !!!
I just got an email from my GRAND WIZARD CAD PROGRAMMER and he said that it is ok to release his identity.
it is JAY FROM NEW ZEALAND . he is graciously plotting the parts from a trumpeter kit that I sent to him on his spare time . no rest for the weary , hugh JAY ?
NOT SURE IF I CAN HOLD A CAMERA UP TO TAKE PICS SO I WILL TRY TO GET MY WIFE TO TRY AND TAKE THEM.
now we are a bit early in this project to start taking deposit but ........... the coffers are almost empty.
the money that I squirreled away for this project is almost gone and the next BIG piece is costing $300-$450 to get printed --frosted detail to ultra frosted detail .
I have money for the lesser quality but not for the ultra.
my price point for the kits is $ 350-$450 .
if any of you all would want to contribute to this 3-d CAD prototype build , I am accepting deposits now to keep this project going.
I will build the main body and blades myself. the printing pricess are just too high .
if anybody who donates $300 or over no matter how much the final cost on the HIND WILL BE consider your full kit as paid for .
this will be a presale bonus.
so if any of you guys can , I need help financing this project.
OF COURSE I WILL TAKE SMALLER DONATIONS.
I will simply deduct this from the total cost of the kit.
please pm me for your contributions .
thanks ,
MATTHEW

Excellent updates! I was fiddling with my 1:72 scale MRC Easy Model Hind this weekend and it crossed my mind more than once as to how cool one would be in 1:18 scale. Glad to see this project moving forward, PH

I know it is hard to be exact, but do you have a rough timeline to completion? I am considering paying ahead but it would be good to know a timeline going in.
