F9F Panther
F9F Panther
another sweet little r/c kit. A bit on the big side, unfortunately. About 1/15. Sure looks nice though.

it's made out of high density styrofoam and yes it looks like the pic. Usually the undersides of these r/c's don't look quite as good as they have a battery cover, small cooling vent etc but from a few feet away they look great.
Yes it's a nice looking jet....i'm sorely tempted to get this, even though it's about 20% too big. The irony is that if someone made one in 1/18 it would probably cost more than this bigger one does.

there are some excellent picture of the Panther at the beginning of this thread so you can get a sense of exactly how it looks. The foam texture in the one close up picture looks worse than real life, probably, as the lighting is very harsh....but it is noticable from less than 5 feet away.
Still looks pretty sweet. Comes with decals already applied.

Interesting... I am not that familiar with the Panther.
It looks like a cool plane with the classic Navy blue paint scheme.
When I think of Korean war aircraft, it's a always the A-1 Skyraider, F-86 & MiG-15
(edited to add A-1)

Ive been considering the F-117. Cant even tell it is foam and looks to be almost exacty 1:18 scale. Maybe the B-2 as well but think I'll start with the F-117!

there are a few F-117's around. That one is a bit small, to be honest, i think they've got the dimensions wrong as there are only 2 really good ones that i know of. One is 1000mm long and the other 1150mm long.
Both are made by the same company, they just upscaled their smaller one. The bigger one is the one to get. It's slightly overscale but is the closest in size to 1/18.
The one shown in your link i think is the smaller one, with the dimensions including the nose probe. I have it and am going to replace it with the bigger one sometime this year. The pilot looks way too large in it and it just doesn't convey the sheer size and bulk of the F-117, when i compare it to my F-18 and F-14.
This is the one you would probably want to get:

You'll see they have the smaller one as well, on page 1.
They are pretty scale in appearance. The wings are a hair overly large for the fuselage, but it's not noticable unless you look at planviews and the rear of the tail is a bit bulky, as opposed to tapered on the real thing. Overall though, it looks very good. Comes with decals which are pretty high quality and don't leave any silvery surround around them (except for the tail ones, for some wierd reason).
Overall, very cool and worth the money imo.
Oh, if foam texture is of concern then the B-2 is the better choice. It's texture is nearly invisible as it uses a new high density foam, which is almost like plastic in appearance. The F-117 has a definite foam texture, but if you get about 5 feet away from it, it is unnoticable.
Aerial Hobby is the cheapest place i've found. When you sign up an account and log in most prices drop by about $15. They're based in Singapore.
