lost my avatar
With the suggestions, I've been successful with the avatars and embedded photos. However, I recently updated my avatar but can't get it to 'stick'
I can get it in the text body just fine:
Do I use the same code line for the avatar?
Thanks,
JimBob

still a no-go
Still can't get it to work. In the past, I've changed it a few times without a problem. I still have no problem with photos in a post:
<img src="http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7061/flynavy5ql.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" />
the above image was using the "Sites" code beginning in <img
...But my previous message was using the "Forum" code beginning with [IMG] (???)
But the avatar continues to defy my efforts on my profile page. I'm still using ImageShack and have tried some of my earlier images, with no luck. Am I missing something dreadfully simple on the profile page? I even deleted some images from ImageShack with the thought that I'd gone over some 'magic' number.
No big deal, really... but AARRRGGH!! Just frustrating.
Thanks,
JimBob

So I joined Image Shack and Photobucket.
Tried to get my avatar to load. I even resized it to fit within the specs, still I get URL is invalid.
I have no problem loading it in the post like this: [img][/img]
but it won't load in avatar control. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: avatar
What am I doing wrong
This is the only frustrating computer issue I've had in this site. Everything else works like a dream.
I did the resizing, well within the limits. I even had the avatar up for a day and then it went away leaving the dreaded box with an X in the corner. Couldn't recover it. It was like it was never there. Did it again, same thing. Tried a third time. it lasted less than a day.
Tried again..
Now it won't even accept it, only says "Invalid URL"
Again, What am I doing wrong

What makes the P-51 Mustang so special?

Re: avatar
Okay, so you made sure your pic fell within these guidelines, yes?
And for your url, what do you have? Does it follow this format:
http ://img.YOURHOSTINGSITE.com/albums/v510/YOU/YOURPICSNAME.jpg
or however your host shows it? Mine is Photobucket, and that is how their's will look (except there is no space after http; had to put that in to keep the forum from showing it as a link).
Make sure you have the width/height correct and not switched. Also that file size isn't terribly big but an image that small should usually stay inside the limit.Current image:
Maximum dimensions; width: 150 pixels, height: 250 pixels, file size: 58.59 KiB.

Re: avatar
Thanks!
Yes, it was 140 X 120.
I'll keep trying with that advice. The URL seems to be the problem.

Re: avatar
Well, it took four times. The first two times I got the dreaded box with the X in the corner. The third time it said it couldn't determine the size. Finally, the 4th try, it came through. I used a slightly different picture of 130 X 130 dimensions.
Now, let's see if it will stay.
Thanks [CAT]CplSlade for the help
