I just looked at USMC Chet's flickr photos which show the better detail. Great to see functioning boarding ladder and pilot/RIO steps.

Merit better push JSI for some pilots for this thing. I'm reminded of rocket holes and a certain rocketless Hellcat.

VMF115 did they have this figure there? http://www.js-int.net/soilder_60097A06.html

I certainly hope that figure is not coming out. It looks like the Tank Commander that came with the Series 1 Panther. It was small much like the Series 1 germans.

I certainly hope that JSI acquried something besides all those midget molds.

I need to set the record straight, I was the originator of the Hunger Strike for the A-10. That was I don't know how many years ago. I now wieght negative 674 pounds. I'm almost classified as a singularity in Astronomer's Guide Books.

Think I've been a bit more vocal about it though over the years...... :P  :D

Anyhow, the Hunger Strike for a 1/18 A-10 still remains in effect.....though in a more silent and selectively vocal way.... :D

With this current news of JSI's 1/18 F-14 and the pictures seen earlier of their 1/18 F-15 confirming their true existence. someone might just help us eat within the next few years.... :D :D

USMCCHET9296:

I have one more question for you:

Is the detail of the JSI F-14 closer to a BBI 1/18 plane or a Franklin Mint 1/48 plane?

Thanks again for all the info.

In addition to the crew, I sure hope Aux tanks are added to the final release. Fantastic looking bird so far !! Thanks for the pictures.

Do you know where to buy some F 18 pilots from BBI ? ... and some F 16's for the next F15 E .

I've never seen thoses figures alone ! but it will be a perfect match !

If you look closely at the bottom of the pre-production Tomcat from the fair, you can see that the underside of the engine pods show some sort of slot or hole or indention like the Century Wings Tomcat which leads me to believe they already have built in the capacity for aux tanks. I wouldn't worry. Being that the detail from what I can see looks so darn good and historically correct, I'm certain they will have the tanks.

or the tanks may be an optional extra, like the pilots.

You know I don't really care as long as I can get a fair representation of a F-14 in 1/18 scale for a decent price.

Some of you guys want the moon for nothing, and then bitch that it costs too much or isn't perfect in every way.

The F-14 looks cool enough that I might actually have to break my no aircraft/no modern rules! :D I'm kinda surprised that they couldn't manage to get it painted for the display, even just a flat grey would have looked better, it's still a win though.

On the down side of this exhibit is pretty much everything else I was excited about from seeing the HK toy fair pics. Panther and Tiger are shown as straight repaints without the added zimmerit, skirts, and cupola mg. I'm really hoping that this is just a case of not having the updated versions on hand and we'll actually get all the new stuff with the actual relase versions (then again, if they had them for the HK show there's really no excuse for not having them on hand here). :?

The figures... I still can't believe they're actually planning to re-release the 1st series figures, once again I'm hoping that they're just using them as "filler" until they get some new stuff to actually release. The packaging is interesting, if I was interested in keeping my figures sealed from view in a bookcase... It also looks really expensive, I can't imagine they'd be selling these for under $10 each which just doesn't work, especially if they're the same old figures released 9 years ago.

I really hope the international market is super excited about the M16 halftrack cause they're sure as hell not going to be selling many now that they're 4 for $30 at MD all day long.

I hate sounding so negative about this stuff, I just don't understand some of the decisions they seem to be making on re-releases. I really hope they're successful beyond belief so that we can potentially get some new stuff further down the line.

oh yeah, the cover flaps on the armor boxes are a nice touch but the logo with the red helmeted flaming skull, not so much...

It does look like they changed the mantlet on the Tiger to the late-production single sight hole.

I would like to do a diorama with an f-14 coming in for a landing with flaps and leading edge deployed and one on the catapult with the front landing gear comprised. I was really hoping that they would have included these features. any one get a look at the intakes do the go all the way back or are they like the AT F-86?

I even bought two pieces of wood and a brass rod for this.

Many thanks for the photos! Man that is big

They're releasing the figures indivdually boxed? Seems like an unnecessary amount of design work and presentation packaging for what should be more of an impulse, or multiple purchase item. Will also raise the price to $10 or more each, I suspect.

I think they're metal, anyone know for sure?

My bet would be metal landing gear, but who knows. Hopefully that picture of the bent gear from Merit's site isn't final production material. But if I remember correct, either VMF or Chet said that the model was damaged in transport to the show. Interesting that the pieces are clear. Looks like the front ejection seat is missing the face curtain handles also as the rear seat has them. Looks like JSI is getting closer to getting this puppy out the door.

But hot damn, that cockpit looks sweet :D
