Everybodys favorite mustang
I heard someone a while back grumbling how many P-51s he had and thought everybodys got to have at least 1. Just curious to see what everybodys favorite paintscheme is? BBI or 21st. I will have to say mine is Bunnie. Not that the scheme is so cool, but how bright and crisp the paint work is on this one. QC must have looked this one over pretty good.

Hmm... tough call. I've got 5 1:18 Mustangs and they all have great paint schemes all around.
If I had to choose my favorite, it would be my 21c retooled P-51 "Big Beautiful Doll." When I got it at Wal Mart, I had a stroke of luck and was able to select the best plane from 14 examples, thus mine has a great looking checker pattern with very few squares that are moticably oversprayed or misshapened.
Depending on how I'm feeling on a particular day, however, my 21c "Old Crow" can also top the list

Yeah the new 2010 has a few issues design wise. LOVE the 2005-2009's though.Dauntless wrote:Isn't the new Mustang redesign quite sucky?tko211 wrote:the 2007 SHELBY GT
wait... wrong forum. That is my other hobby.
Whoops wrong forum again.
So back to topic though- BBD has to be my favorite. I have always loved that scheme. It's closely followed by the Tuskeegee plane though.

Hmmm, I've only opened my brother's BBD and my Flying Undertaker in 1/18 scale.Dauntless wrote:I would have to say "Big Beautiful Doll" also, but if 1:32 were counted, "Shangri La" P-51B beats that one hands down.
For 1/32 my favorite is hands down Horbaczewski's P-51C (?) from the 315th.
Do any of the 1/18 scale P-51s enjoy a gull & green camo?
(For the record, I also like 21c's British F4 ... which for a while was heavily discounted on amazon.com and one of my earliest purchases. I want more RAF.)

I would actually have to say my Lou IV. It was the first airplane I ever bought, it was the one that started my obsession. It has followed me from California to South Carolina and then to North Dakota. If I could have taken it here to Turkey I would have. Despite all the moves, it has never been damaged. It really is rock solid. Maybe not the prettiest compared to the others, but I wouldnt get rid of for any other plane.
"I can stop collecting 1:18 scale anytime, really I can. OOoh, the new Stuka re-paint! I don't have that one.
BBI did an RAAF P-51 in a camo like that. The pictures on SSHQ are of the proto. http://www.sshqdb.com/18/displayimage.p ... =106&pos=0MCalamari wrote:Do any of the 1/18 scale P-51s enjoy a gull & green camo?
On the one I have the grey is more of a green grey and there is not as much sharpness between the two colors. Also, BBI does a decent job of minor weathering. I would put up photos of mine, but my desktop was compromised by a cheap surge protector last week during a thunderstorm.

Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!

I love my bbi mustangs too, they look awsome with the weels up. That monster rear wheel looks like it could have passed as a small steamroller, not too mention it doesn't sit low enough, thus causing the whole plane to sit nose to high. Thats my biggest compalint with bbi, a lot of there planes are awsome in detail, but so toyish with landing gears.
